Domperidone

Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist indicated for ovarian follicle stimulation in mares.

Domperidone is a dopamine (D2 receptor) antagonist which, following administration in the mare, results in an increase in serum prolactin levels, an increase in progesterone levels and a decrease in oestradiol-17-β levels.

Active Constituent(s)

Each 5 g syringe contains:

  • 600 mg Domperidone

Indications

For promoting the development of follicles and ovulation in mares in anoestrus or prolonged dioestrus.

Dosage

1 to 1.2 mg/kg. One syringe provides the required daily dose for a 500 to 600 kg mare. Repeat daily until ovulation occurs. Treatment should be discontinued as soon as ovulation occurs.

NOT TO BE USED in horses intended for human consumption.
